Downtown Sarasota's Laurel Park is a National Register of Historic Places District located in Sarasota, FL. It's one of Sarasota's earliest neighborhoods, where old, historic homes sit beneath towering mature pine trees and Spanish moss. You will also find country style paved road and old brick homes. A very famous home in Sarasota, Florida is that of Dr. Walter C. Kennedy located off Oak Street is the only home in the neighborhood officially designated as both a state and a national historic site. Dr. Kennedy lived in the home from 1924 until 1946, during which time he served as Sarasota's business and community leader.
